Just another day in paradise

Well, there's not to much to say, but this is what's been going on the past couple of days...
A few days ago Mason and I met some friends from the church at the beach. Our kids had so much fun playing together. I know Mason was loving every moment of it; being the only guy and all.
It was our good friends, Kari and Dave, anniversary yesterday. Well, Dave surprised Kari with breakfast and a mariachi band. It was all set up on Sunset Cliffs right where they had their ring ceremony. Since he didn't want them to be there by themselves just hanging out with the band, he invited a bunch of people to come enjoy the music and breakfast burritos. Shout out to Dave! Woop woop! We had a great time. Mase especially enjoyed it!
Wendy and Kari
The band. Just 3 of 14 (i think) Anyway, they were really good!
Mason and Bowen
It's so funny how Mason's attention span ranges drastically. This morning he watched about 45 minutes of Sesame Street. The only other time he holds still that long is when he's sleeping. Silly boy!

Happy Birthday Mason!

Mason turned 1! I can't believe a whole year has gone by since our little boy was born. Every new milestone has been so much fun to watch. From his first smile to rolling over, crawling to walking, and baby babble to words. I'm so grateful for my precious, happy, and healthy little boy.

We had his party last Saturday. There was a pretty good turnout with about 30 people. A lot of our friends still don't have kids (ya'll might want to get on that, Mason needs some guy buddies to play with) so there were more adult's than children, but he had a great time anyway. There was a good mix of people from church and Bowens work. He grilled up some fierce burgers and hotdogs for everyone and they were deeeelicious! mmmmm.... After everyone had pretty much eaten, it was cake time. We all sang Happy Birthday while I brought out the cake with one candle to Mason. He was grinning from ear to ear because he knew that this was all about him. We set him down with the cake in front of him and instead of digging in like most kids would, he poked it, licked the frosting off his finger, poked it again, lick, poke, lick...you get the picture.
Well, Bowen got a little impatient with that so he grabbed Masons hands and stuck them in the cake. He started BAWLING! He was so upset that his dad did that to his cake. So I cleaned off his hands and handed him a fork. After he got that he was just fine and finished eating as much cake as he wanted. Soon after, it was present time! He loves all the presents he got. One in particular was a 4 foot stuffed teddy bear. Where the heck are we going to put that? Oh, but Mason loves it and loves to jump on it and kiss it's nose.
We spent the rest of the afternoon just hanging out, playing washers, football, and volleyball. We all had a great time and I think Mase really enjoyed his first birthday.

Mason got this huge card that played the chicken dance song. Every time he would open it he would start dancing. It was pretty funny!

Swim time!

I finally got a kiddy pool for Mason (thanks Melinda Mom) and he LOVES it! He played in it for at least an hour yesterday before it got to chilly, and we were right back in it today. He would splash, get in, get out, crawl around, get back in, and try to be a scuba diver-it didn't work, but he loved it anyway!
Little naked frog bum!

Apparently our dog thinks she's human. I don't let her on the bed, so she only does it when I'm gone or Bowen is here.

Sprinkler time!

It was sooo hot today! After church and Mason's nap, I threw on my swim suit and we went and played in the sprinkler. Mason thought it was just wonderful! I had a lot of fun taking pictures of my little nakedness of a son! We even gave the dog a bath. She didn't like it a bit, but she smells sooo sweet now! When we were done we made taco soup, brownies, woke up Bowen from his nap, had dinner, and enjoyed the rest of our relaxing Sunday evening!

Mason's first art project

I bought some paint the other day thinking it would be fun for Mason to paint a picture. It was fun, but what a mess! Luckily it's non toxic because he did try eating it. Crazy kid! His painting is now proudly hung on the fridge. I love that boy sooo much!

The San Diego Fair

I took this a couple days ago and he walking even more now, but this is some of Masons first steps.

The fair again!

Bowen had the Friday before the 4th off, so we decided to spend the day at the fair. I think he's glad that I made him go because we had such a good time! We invited Austin and Ryan (some friends of ours) It was 3 grown guys, me, and Mason. ha! kind of a funny sight. I cooked breakfast for everyone then we headed out. Most of the day was spent just walking around, looking at the exhibits, and people watching. We fell victim to the ShamWow and bought two! We were fortunate enough to watch some turkey races-most excellent! Mason went through the "petting zoo" it was really just goats and sheep, but he loooved it!

When you go to the fair, it's a must that you have fair food. Boy did we ever! Thanks to Juicys BBQ and $50 later (combined), we had a 2 BBQ turkey legs, ginormous hot dog, deep fried zucchini, curly fries, funnel cake, and snow cones. Needless to say I had heartburn and and a stomach ache. It was all worth it though!

Mason wanted a bite
On to the funnel cake! It was topped with strawberries and whipped cream. Deeelicious!
The Guys

Where's the baby?

What a great day it was! I think going to the fair is going to be a Summer family tradition.

Happy 4th of July!!!

What a great Independence Day it was! We had so much fun. It all started with the traditional Pancake breakfast at the church. Then, off to the beach. Instead of dealing with the crowds in PB we met some friends at the Cardiff Beach just north of Del Mar. All the girls had their big sunglasses and magazines and worked on our tans...or burns :) The guys spent their time surfing. There was good food and great memories made.
Mason kicked off the day with trying to surf for the first time...he hated it. Maybe next year Mase.
My happy boys
I guess it's tradition that the girls get a picture with our glasses and magazines... We made our guys take the pics, they thought it was ridiculous.
I don't think Bowen knew i took this, but it was hilarious. Those guys need to get caught up on celebrity gossip too!

Mase had a great nap and woke up a happy boy. All he wanted to do is snuggle with his Aunt Heidi. Awww...

One of the highlights of the day is when Erin's husband, Dave, devised a squirrel trap. Lo and behold HE CAUGHT ONE! It was so funny! After the picture he let it go and all was well with the squirrel ecosystem.

By the time we got home, put everything away, and showered, we were exhausted! Mason went to bed, we got some sushi, from our roof we watched the fireworks, watched the movie, The Rocker (it was pretty funny), prepared our lesson for Sunday school, and went to bed! I love Americas Birthday!

Another Padres Game

Last week we had some Padres tickets given to us. There were two extras so Bowen invited his friend from work, Erick, and his girlfriend, Gibby. We had such good seats! Mason even got his 15 minutes of fame. The camera guy put him up on the Jumbo Screen. He was dancing and laughing-you could hear the whole crowd go "Awwwww" it was so much fun!

Laugh, laugh, laugh

After dinner this evening Bowen had to leave to go to the Young Mens activity. They were feeding the homeless, so he had to run. Mason hadn't quite finished eating so I started clearing the table. Well I had forgot to give him some sort of vegetable so I grabbed some pureed green beans and started feeding him them. Just as I had given him a large spoonful of green goodness, I sneezed. It triggered something in Mason where he BURST out laughing...spraying green beans EVERYWHERE, including on me from head to toe! I couldn't help but laugh at how funny it was. It didn't just stop there though...oh no. I thought it was hilarious so I kept on making funny noises and we kept on laughing. He was literally sighing from laughing so hard. Then it got to the point where I was laughing at him laughing, and he was laughing at me laughing. We couldn't stop! It was really the highlight of my day. I love my little man soooo much!
