A little bit of June

The past week we were pretty busy. Ok, we're busy every week, but it seemed even longer because I've officially stopped drinking Dr. Pepper. If anyone knows me, I had to have my fix pretty much every day. Luckily my wonderful husband is stopping his caffeine addiction as well. So now we have each other to be accountable to besides ourselves. I think that makes it a whole lot easier...minus the headaches, cravings, and feeling like i want to sleep all the time. How could I let my body become soooo addicted??? It makes me upset thinking about it! Never again!!! This week is a LOT better!
Monday morning Mason and I went to the zoo with Jackie and her girls. We saw the new elephant exhibit, giant pandas, zebras, big cats...you name it! I think Mason really enjoyed it. This time he actually acknowledged the animals were there. He was telling me he wanted more Teddy Grams RIGHT NOW!
He only lasted a couple hours then it was time for a nap so we headed home. When he woke up we headed to the grocery store for our weekly shopping. Since we moved into our new home we've been trying to have a family from our ward over every Monday for dinner and Family Home Evening. So far it's been a great experience. We've gotten to know more people and developed great relationships.
The rest of the week was filled with the usual day to day stuff...church meetings...work....blah blah....
...until Friday.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MASON!!!! WOOHOO!!!! My little boy turned one. I can hardly believe it. He's growing up so fast I can hardly stand it. We're having the party next week, so he hasn't really got anything yet except for some nice cards, an Auburn Tigers Jersey and pants, and cash from his grandparents. Now what is he getting with that mula? Can you say swimming pool? Yep! Oh, and he got a dog too. Her name is Lady and she's an amazing dog.
That night we had our first Jerky's catering job. I think it was a huge success and we learned a lot! Word got around it was Mason's birthday so everyone (including the band) sang happy birthday to him. He thoroughly enjoyed it! The party was at the apartments I used to manage, so there we're quite a few people I already knew. They were excited to see them and couldn't believe how big Mason was getting.

Saturday was, of course, beach day and that evening we went to the annual OB farmers market. It was another wonderful Saturday well spent with my family!

I just love my boys, San Diego, and life!

Melt my heart

I had to write about this as soon as it happened. Mason was sitting on my lap enjoying a blueberry breakfast bar. He was jabbering away as usual trying to have a conversation with me even though I had no clue what he was talking about. I would just respond with "really?" or "oh that's neat!" just to keep him going. As I was admiring my cute little boy I said, "I love you Mason" (like I do every day) when he promptly turned to me and planted a big, wet, blueberry kiss on my face. My heart melted and tears fell down my cheeks. He knows the love his mommy has for him. It's precious moments like that, that keep you going. It lets you know that if nothing else, he knows he is loved and that's all that matters.

Friday Morning Smoothies

Mmmm...blackberry peach smoothies!

Friday morning was beautiful here. It was a crisp sunny morning and perfect for breakfast smoothies. We have an awesome blender that will puree anything, so I went to town! Mmmm they were delicious! Mason and I sat out on our back porch listening to the birds chirp, soaking up the sunshine, and enjoying our fruity treat. It was perfect. I'm so grateful for all the simple things we have to enjoy.

Ya, it was pretty bright out there. Hence the squinting.

San Diego County Fair time!!!

Last year I wanted to go to the fair soooo bad. I was about ready to pop though so I never ended up going. This year I was determined. I called my friend Jackie to see if she wanted to take her girls and the rest is history...well almost. Usually it costs $13 to get in but we went on $2 Tuesday...what a bargain! Only everyone else in the county thought it was a bargain too. It took us an HOUR to get there (it usually takes about 15 minutes regularly). Mason was starting to get upset and crying, the girls were getting restless, and traffic was NOT moving. Oh what to do? We broke out the sing alongs! Jackie and I were singing every song we could think of, doing the actions and all! Our hits ranged from the ABC's to 5 little monkeys to Twinkle Twinkle little star. Oh how fun :) Well we finally got there and found a place to park. It was packed! We saw some of the animals, got a drink, then headed to the carnival rides. The little girls went on a few but the only one Mason could go on was the Carousel. He had a blast! We were there for a couple hours and then headed home. What a day! It was sure fun though, and next time Bowen is going with us!
At the gate getting ready to go in

This is how packed it was! I guess I'm just used to small town fairs where there's no admission fee and you know everyone who's there.

A random shot of the food area

So big to be riding the horse

Jackie and the girls, I don't know how she does it. I can barely handle one!

We went on the ride twice. By the second time we were getting pretty dizzy. It was fun though!

Thanks for the visit Ralph!

Our great friend (well, he's practically family) Ralph, came out to visit us. He was here for a business conference but stayed a couple extra days to visit. He was the first official guest to use the "guest bedroom" aka. Mason's room. Friday night he took us out to dinner at Nick's on the Beach seafood and grill. It was good, but let's just say it didn't agree with me :) Saturday morning we wanted to go to the beach, but it was pretty cloudy and chilly, so we went to the famous Koby's swapmeat. Bowen and I ended up finding a really cool painting for an even cooler price to go over out entertainment center and one for our bedroom. I think Ralph wanted to find a diamond in the rough collector coin, but no luck. After we were done there, it had cleared up and warmed up enough to go to the beach. Ralph was so nice to watch Mason for a bit while I went and surfed with my husband. It turned out to be a beautiful day! When we got home and put everything away, we walked over to Rubios and topped off the day with some fish tacos! Mmmmm...for those of you who don't know how good they are, you should. They're amazing! Bowen took Ralph to the airport early the next morning. It was so good to see him! Thanks again!

Mason hanging out with Uncle Ralph
Bowen headed out to surf I had to put this picture in. Friday morning I put on Sesame Street. Mason has never really paid attention to it, but he was fascinated this time. He LOVES Elmo from the books we read. He couldn't believe that Elmo was right there, talking, singing, and dancing!!!

Pool time

Two weeks ago we went to a baby shower for Bowens friends wife. It was a fun barbeque and all the families were invited. It was getting pretty warm and the kids were getting hot so we broke out the pool and sprinkler. Mason didn't so much love the sprinkler, but loved splashing in the pool. Some of the bigger kids thought it was fun to splash him. I let them know with the look on my face that that wasn't necessary. ha ha! They quickly stopped. I think a pool is probably a must have for this summer. Maybe he'll get one for his birthday next week...

Mmmmm....sticky cupcakes!

Perfect pool to wash off

He insisted on eating leaves. When I would try to take them away, he would throw a fit. What can ya do?

Ta da!

It's finally warming up

A couple of weeks ago Mason and I met Heidi and her sister at the beach. The water is finally getting warm enough that you don't get hypothermia. Mason loved it! I can tell he's going to be a fish just like his daddy.
We have all these beach toys and he wont even touch them. This was his favorite, just playing in the wet sand.
Boogie boarding! He didn't quite know what to think of it, but I think he liked it :P

He kept trying to stand up on the sand. Just when he could do it, the water would come up and he would fall down Finding seashells Mason sure does love his Aunt Heidi

Soon enough he'll be tearing it up out there on the surf board. *Sigh* He's getting so big!

Phone pictures

I really need to update and i will by the end this week. But until then here's some pics from my phone. This one was at target. Heidi and i decided that mason needed to try on some sparkle shoes...he hated them!

This is the dog, Lady, that we're watching for a couple days. Mason follows her around ALL day squealing and poking her. She's such a good dog to put up with that!

This is why we don't wake up at 5AM

Last week Mason decided that it would be fun to wake up at 5AM instead of his usual 7AM. Yay! I agree, I have been spoiled with him sleeping in like that. So instead of taking a nap at 11 he wanted to go back to sleep at 9. I wanted to make sure he had a full tummy so that he would get a good nap in. I guess I was a little late on feeding him...

...he'd had it! "I'm tired!!!!"

The "N" word.

I had to blog about this because it's become quite apparent that Mason has learned the meaning of NO, but doesn't follow it. There are just two cupboards out of the many that we have that he's not supposed to get into and he knows it. Well instead of staying out of them he thinks that if he says noooo while he's getting into them that it's ok. No Mason, it's not.
